Stop AIDS, Love Life
Activity Dates
2002-2004
Activity Summary
Stop AIDS, Love Life was a national intervention originally launched in February 2000. HCP continued to roll it out in phases to successfully address various audiences, improve and increase community-based communication approaches, and increase the quantities of and access to HIV and AIDS communication materials. The first phase emphasized the use of HIV-protective behaviors. Subsequent phases placed a greater emphasis on compassion for those living with HIV and AIDS, including the involvement of tribal chiefs in the second phase and religious leaders in the third phase of the campaign. The Stop AIDS, Love Life campaign developed a wide array of materials, including serial dramas, radio and TV spots, song and music video, print materials, and billboards. The campaign uses the ABC (Abstinence, Faithfulness, and Condom Use) approach, the need to increase personal perception of HIV risk, and testimonies from Ghanaians living with HIV or AIDS among other strategies.
