Adolescents Living with HIV (ALHIV)
The resources in this toolkit cover a broad range of topics pertinent to the treatment, care and support of ALHIV including: training, treatment literacy & adherence, counseling & disclosure, peer education, human rights & advocacy and more.
Community-Based Family Planning
Community-based family planning brings family planning information and methods to women and men in the communities where they live rather than require them to visit health facilities. This toolkit is a collection of key resources to help policy makers, program managers, service providers, and other audiences improve access to and quality of community-based family planning services.
Condom Use
Condoms are the only family planning method that provides protection against both pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV. The Condom Use Toolkit summarizes the evidence on both male and female condoms and includes resources to help plan, manage, evaluate, and support health services that encourage condom use.

This toolkit provides a one-stop source for reliable and relevant information on the 10 essential elements of family planning success, identified by health care professionals around the world.

A source for evidence-based knowledge and promising practices to support the successful integration of family planning and HIV services.

Haiti Relief
A one-stop source for technical and practical information that will help health workers respond to the earthquake relief efforts underway in Haiti, the materials included in this toolkit focus on meeting both immediate and long-term needs of the Haitian people.The toolkit covers the vital sectors in emergencies, including health, water and sanitation, food security, shelter, and education.
IGWG Gender and Health
Although there is widespread awareness among governments and donors of the importance of gender in effective and sustainable healthcare, there is still a lack of knowledge of how to integrate gender in policies, programs, and health systems. The Gender and Health Toolkit is being developed to bring together in one place practical and hands-on how-to resources for gender integration and mainstreaming in health policies, programs, and institutions.
Implants
Implants are a long-acting contraceptive method and one of the most effective reversible family planning methods ever developed. Despite their acceptability to women and their potential to significantly reduce the number of unintended pregnancies, they are underutilized throughout the world. The Implants Toolkit was created to provide guidance and tools to update, expand or develop implant service provision programs.
Injectables
Around the world, use of injectables has risen dramatically. The increasing demand for injectables challenges programs to increase access to and improve the quality of services. This toolkit includes information about both progestin-only injectables and combined injectables.
IUD
There are many concerns surrounding intrauterine devices (IUDs), including misperceptions and unfounded myths among providers and potential users. The IUD Toolkit was created to alleviate uncertainties while providing positive evidence-based practices about this contraceptive method. It also provides guidance and tools to update, expand or develop IUD service provision programs.
Lactational Amenorrhea Method (LAM)
This toolkit was developed with the goal of repositioning LAM as a viable family planning method for postpartum women and as a gateway to other modern contraceptive methods.

Malawi Family Planning
Developed by the Malawi RH Toolkit Taskforce, this toolkit is one of three toolkits created by Malawi-based organizations specifically aimed at audiences in Malawi. It provides helpful background information and practical tools for planning, implementing and delivering family planning services. Emphasis is placed on the importance of family planning at the community level to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality, and improve reproductive health.
Malawi Maternal and Neonatal Health
This toolkit provides resources, such as posters and pamphlets in the Chichewa language, to help spread awareness about the importance of antenatal care and neonatal health. It also provides resources that summarize antenatal care services and its benefits.
Malawi Young People and Reproductive Health
This toolkit provides resources for developing youth-friendly health services (YFHS). It also includes information packaged to help spread awareness of reproductive health issues among young people, with emphasis on reducing HIV transmission among young people.
mHealth
mHealth is the use of mobile technology to support health outcomes. The explosive growth of mobile phones in the developing world provides new opportunities for the design, management and measurement of health programs. However, the evidence base for mHealth is new and limited in developing countries. The mHealth Toolkit provides resources to clarify the opportunities and uncertainties of this rapidly evolving field.
Multiple and Concurrent Partnerships
Provides evidence-based knowledge on preventing HIV infections by reducing the occurrence of multiple and concurrent partnerships (MCP)—sexual relationships that overlap in time, often for months or years.
Oral Contraceptives
Contains important information about combined oral contraceptives (which contain both estrogen and progestin) and about progestin-only oral contraceptives. It also contains comprehensive information about emergency contraceptive pills, which are special doses of oral contraceptives that are used to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sexual intercourse.

Pakistan Relief
A one-stop source for technical and practical information that will help health workers respond to the flood relief efforts underway in Pakistan. The toolkit covers the vital sectors in emergencies, including health, water and sanitation, food security, shelter, and education.
Peace Corps – Food Security
Improved food security behaviors and improved access to food security education are high-priority community needs in the majority of Peace Corps Volunteer communities, with significant health implications, particularly for women and children. Developed by Peace Corps agriculture and health specialists, this toolkit is intended for all Volunteers engaged in food security education activities, a large proportion of whom may have other primary assignment activities, and whose food security activities are part of their community service (“secondary”) activities.
Peace Corps – HIV/AIDS
Developed by Peace Corps health specialists, the resources in this toolkit are intended for all Peace Corps Volunteers engaged in HIV/AIDS activities.
Peace Corps – Improved Stoves and Ovens
Indoor air pollution is responsible for nearly half of the more than 2 million deaths each year that are caused by acute respiratory infections. This toolkit was created to provide guidance and tools to update, develop or expand clean air and efficient cookstove projects.
Peace Corps – Malaria
Peace Corps Volunteers carry out grassroots community-based education and salient health education activities focused on malaria control in Africa and elsewhere in the world. This toolkit was created to provide guidance and tools for Peace Corps Volunteers and staff to update, develop or expand malaria education and programming.
Peace Corps – Maternal, Newborn and Child Health
Improved maternal and newborn health behaviors and improved access to maternal and newborn health education are high-priority community needs in the majority of Peace Corps Volunteer communities. This toolkit includes important resources developed by Peace Corps Volunteers and staff as well as external partners to help with maternal and newborn project programming and education.
Peace Corps - Non-Communicable Diseases
This toolkit was created by Peace Corps Staff in response to rapid and increasing prevalence and impact of NCDs across the world.
Peace Corps – Nutrition
This toolkit was created primarily for Peace Corps Volunteers to help them with updating, developing, or expanding nutrition education and programming.
Peace Corps – Sexual and Reproductive Health
Developed by Peace Corps staff, this toolkit covers adolescent reproductive health programming, technical information on a wide variety of family planning methods, and guidance on increasing male involvement within health and HIV/AIDS projects, particularly in family planning and reproductive health programs.
Peace Corps – Social and Behavior Change
The Social and Behavior Change Toolkit developed by Peace Corps contains information on how to incorporate behavior change communication (BCC) strategies into health promotion activities and guidance about community mobilization to create an enabling environment to facilitate and support positive change.
Peace Corps – Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene
This toolkit was created to provide guidance and tools for Peace Corps Volunteers and staff on a number of issues related to water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), including a summary of Peace Corps work in water and sanitation in 2009, resources for training community outreach workers on hygiene promotion, tools for setting up WASH programs in schools, as well as information on household water treatment, water supply, watershed protection, sanitation, and financing small-scale infrastructure programs.
Peace Corps - Women in Development/ Gender and Development
This toolkit, developed by Peace Corps staff, provides resources to Volunteers engaged in Women in Development/ Gender and Development (WID/GAD) activities or to Volunteers interested in including more gender-sensitive perspective in their activities.
Population, Health and Environment (PHE)
Constructed by the PHE Toolkit Content Management team in consultation with PHE collaborating partners based in the U.S., Africa, and Asia, this toolkit provides information for projects that integrate community development activities with a focus on environment and health interventions. These integrated approaches may include components such as family planning and reproductive health, basic health services, education and outreach, sustainable livelihoods, coastal and natural resource management, and biodiversity conservation.
Postabortion Care (currently being updated)
This toolkit provides comprehensive, standardized, scientifically accurate, and evidence-based information on postabortion care. It serves as a repository of basic instruments intended for policymakers and program planners who are designing or revising their current postabortion care program.
Postpartum Family Planning
The first year postpartum is a time of great family planning need, but also a time when few services are accessible to women. This toolkit will assist policy makers, program managers, trainers and service providers to develop and implement effective service delivery approaches that address the family planning needs of the women they serve.
Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV
This toolkit provides evidence-based knowledge on preventing HIV infections by preventing mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT). It summarizes the latest evidence and provides links to guidelines and tools to help you plan, manage, evaluate, and support PMTCT programs.
Standard Days Method (SDM)
The purpose of this toolkit is to assist program managers to plan for and integrate the Standard Days Method® into services. The guidelines and resources in this toolkit are based on the experience of more than twenty international and local organizations that successfully have introduced this simple natural family planning method into their countries' family planning programs.
